24 Kebbi Schoolgirls Released Safely Through Peaceful Government Intervention.

24 Kebbi Schoolgirls Released Safely Through Peaceful Government Intervention.
A group of 24 Nigerian girls kidnapped from their boarding school more than a week ago have been released, according to President Tinubu. On November 17, armed gunmen raided the school in Nigeria's Kebbi State, killing two staff members and abducting 25 children. One was able to flee shortly after. Nigerian President Bola Tinubu applauded security forces for their "swift response" to the kidnapping, though the girls' release details remained unknown. Africa's most populous country had a wave of abductions last week, with more than 250 pupils snatched from a Catholic school on Friday still missing, according to school officials. Friday's kidnapping in Niger State has been hailed as one of the deadliest mass abductions in Nigerian history. However, some officials believe the number of missing youngsters has been exaggerated. Addressing the earlier kidnapping in Kebbi State, Bayo Onanuga, the president's special adviser, said on Tuesday that all of the kidnapped schoolgirls had been found. According to Onanuga's statement, the attack resulted in copycat kidnappings. President Tinubu stated that more personnel will be deployed to "vulnerable areas to avert further incidents of kidnapping".
