Arsenal Defender, Gabriel Sustains Thigh Injury

Arsenal defender Gabriel will be unavailable for "weeks" after sustaining a thigh injury on international duty, says head coach Mikel Arteta. Gabriel,27, limped off in visible discomfort during Brazil's friendly against Senegal at Emirates Stadium last weekend and was consequently ruled out of a draw against Tunisia three days later. He has been in fantastic form for the Gunners this season, being a key part of a defence that has conceded just five league goals so far this season as they have opened a four-point lead at the top of the table. According to manager Mikel Arteta, "Gabi is going to be out for weeks," adding that the defender will have another scan next Wednesday, which should give a clearer timeframe of how long he will be out for. Arsenal host rivals Tottenham on Sunday (16:30pm GMT).
