LAGOS FASHION WEEK WINS EARTHSHOT PRIZE 2025 - TO BUILD A WASTE FREE WORLD

Lagos Fashion Week has been named the Winner of the 2025 Earthshot Prize to Build a Waste-Free World. Receiving the award, founder Omoyemi Akerele shared: "By 2030, with the support of the Earthshot Prize, we will establish the first fully functional Circular Fashion Hub in Lagos. This hub will travel to other African cities powered by culture and craftsmanship transforming textile waste into new materials, new businesses, and sustainable livelihoods." She added: "We call on fashion weeks across the Global South to join us in adopting this model to champion local craftsmanship and build a regenerative fashion future that restores both people and the planet."
